Background Information :

In addition to advertising, we solicited bids from local vendors for the purchase of a driver's education vehicle (specifications attached), which will be budgeted in the General Purpose School Fund for the 2012 – 2013 fiscal year. The purchase of a driver's education vehicle is necessary since both high schools offer the course and the teacher who was teaching the class at both schools has retired. This purchase is within the replacement schedule as established by the Transportation Department. We received bids from three (3) local vendors (Herman Jenkins did not submit a bid), which are summarized on the bid request tally sheet. Individual bids were as follows:

Union City Ford – $21,516.72
Terry Petty Chevrolet – $21,600.00
Kenton Chevrolet – $21,273.00

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the low bid submitted by Kenton Chevrolet for $21,273.00. With this approval, it is the intent of the Board and management that no liability will be incurred, nor a purchase order issued, until the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012.
